Laurie Berkner Whaddya Think of That
Laurie Berkner is a fabulous contemporary female children’s composer/performer,
and this is her best CD so far. |
Tom Chapin In My Hometown
This 1998 Parents’ Choice Gold Award winner is my favorite Tom Chapin cd
for young children, although it is enjoyable through adulthood as well.
He writes songs with humor, soulfulness, and conscience – and a rich
sense of musicality. |
Dinorock Dreamosaurus
Dinorock is a hyper-talented group of local artists who perform on the
nation’s stages. They have won Emmy awards, Parent’s Choice awards, and WETA
Hometown hero awards among others. Here are 2 of their cd’s, which have story
and songs woven together like a radio show. And if you get the chance to see
them with their life-size dinosaur puppets live, run, don’t walk, to get tickets! |

Carole King Really Rosie
Carole King, beloved soft rock idol of the 70’s, performs a wonderful collection
of songs for children, with lyrics that intrigue listeners of all ages. |
Maria Muldaur Swingin' In the Rain
In the 1940’s, songs like A You’re Adorable and Mairzy Doats were pop hits on the radio stations! You can still share these treasures with your children and your parents thanks to this great cd by Maria Muldaur. |
David Polansky’s
Animal Alphabet Songs
Here is a neat collection of 26 songs, each written about an animal whose
name starts with a different letter of the alphabet. All of the songs are
clever, often featuring musical styles from the country in which the animal
is found, and giving funny and informative descriptions of the animals. |
Raffi
The Singable Songs Collection
I recommend buying the box set instead of individual cd’s because Raffi is so good you’ll want at
least two of his cd’s and the set gives you 3 for less than the price of two! This set includes
his first 3 cd’s, originally released in the 1970’s - Singable Songs for the Very Young, More Singable
Songs, Corner Grocery Store. |
Raffi’s Box of Sunshine
The cd’s in this set - Rise and Shine, One Light One Sun, Everything Grows – were all originally
released in the 1980’s. Raffi’s voice continues to be as warm and cozy as a cup of hot chocolate,
and the songs included are a great mix. He has traditional American children’s songs, and some
from other countries as well, silly songs, educational songs, inspirational songs, and all of
them are delightful. |
