FAQIs this program suitable for my child? Our programs are designed to meet the needs of every child in our diverse community. Whether your child tends to be active or sedentary, outgoing or shy, advanced or delayed, we will engage and challenge him or her. As the winner of Fairfax County’s prestigious Human Rights Award, we pride ourselves in being the most inclusive yet challenging enrichment class in the area. We love to differentiate instruction to interest each child on his or her own level, and we love to nurture confidence and a healthy self-image in every one of them. Can I make up a missed class? Anytime a class is canceled by us, we will either offer a make-up class or arrange for a refund or credit. If you miss a class due to illness or emergency, we’ll be glad to try to arrange a make-up just for you. You can help make the process go smoothly by emailing your teacher with your child’s name, date and time of the class missed, and date-time-and-location of 3 classes that you could possibly attend. We prefer to make up classes in the same community where you are registered. Check the exact dates on the class schedule page and make sure that the class is scheduled for the date you are requesting. Your teacher will try to place you in one of your 3 choices, space permitting. Missed classes must be made up in the same session that they were missed. Arrive at the make-up class 5 minutes early to sign the waiver for the class. If you have a planned absence, it is nice to email that information to your teacher in advance, and that way she might be able to offer the spot to someone else. Can the grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and my Uncle Henry visit the class? Each student may be accompanied by up to 2 caregivers – each being either the parent/guardian or the nanny. Aunts and uncles should not come unless they are the primary guardian, but grandparents are always welcome! We love having siblings and friends come too, but we need to have limits to keep the class size manageable. Here’s how it works: A non-participating older sibling may attend either Classic Tales ‘n Tunes or Tiny Tunes class once during the session when school is closed if there is no other childcare option, and no additional fee is required. Please notify the teacher in advance of bringing a sibling whenever possible, and arrive 5 minutes early to sign the waiver for the sibling. If you have a child registered in Classic Tales ‘n Tunes, you may bring a sibling under 12 months along for free. A sibling who is 12 months old at the start of the session will want to participate fully and therefore must register for the class. Email info@classictnt.com for permission and special instructions for registration. Tiny Tunes classes start at birth, so all the children must register for this class. All other friends, siblings or relatives must register for the entire session to attend, drop-ins are not allowed. After all, we need to save some space for the registered students!! Do you offer discounted fees for siblings or financial need? Every child who participates in the class gets an equal share of the teacher's time, classroom resources, and floor space, so we set the same fee for every student and do not offer sibling discounts. Some communities have reduced rates for residents based on financial need, and you can find application information through the registrar of that location. Can I get a refund if I withdraw just before the session starts? Each community center has a policy regarding withdrawals and they are usually restrictive to encourage people to plan carefully before taking a spot. Last minute withdrawals make it difficult for fellow students and teachers to plan their own schedules. Take advantage of our preview classes and make sure you know your schedule before registering for a full session to avoid any need for a refund request. We have no control over community center policy on refunds so any individual questions should be directed to the registrar at the appropriate center. |
