FAQ

Is this program suitable for my child?

Our programs are designed to meet the needs of every child in our diverse community. Whether your child tends to be active or sedentary, outgoing or shy, has special needs or gifts, we will engage and challenge him or her. As the winner of Fairfax County’s prestigious Human Rights Award, we pride ourselves in being the most inclusive yet challenging enrichment class in the area.

Can I make up a missed class?

Yes! Anytime a class is canceled by us, we will either offer a make-up class or arrange for a refund or credit.

If you miss a class due to illness or emergency, we’ll try to arrange for you to attend another class, as long as we have the space. You can help make the process go smoothly by emailing your teacher with your child’s name, date and time of the class missed, and date-time-and-location of 3 classes that you could possibly attend. Check the class schedule page and make sure that the class is scheduled for the exact date you are requesting.

Please try to select a class in the same community where you are registered. Arrive at the make-up class 5 minutes early to sign the waiver for the class. Missed classes must be made up in the same session that they were missed.

If you have a planned absence, it is nice to email that information your teacher in advance, so she might be able to offer the spot to someone else.

Can we bring a guest?

Each student may be accompanied by up to 2 caregivers – each being either the parent/guardian or the nanny. As far as other guests go –

Grandparents – are always welcome!

Younger Siblings - A child registered in Classic Tales ‘n Tunes or Hop ‘n Bop may bring a sibling under 12 months along for free. Siblings who are 12 months old at the start of the session will want to participate fully and therefore must register. Email info@classictnt.com for special instructions for registration. Happy Hands classes start at birth, so all the children must register for this class.

Older Siblings - A non-participating older sibling may attend either Classic Tales ‘n Tunes, Hop ‘n Bop, or Happy Hands class once during the session when school is closed if there is no other childcare option, and no additional fee is required. Please notify the teacher in advance if possible, and arrive 5 minutes early to sign the waiver for the sibling.

Aunts, Uncles, Other Relatives and Friends – We need to save some space for the registered students!! To keep class size small, please don’t bring these other guests to class.

Do you offer discounted fees financial need or for siblings?

Arlington County offers reduced rates for residents based on financial need, and you can find application information through the registrar. Sibling discounts are not offered.

Can I get a refund after the session has started?

Each community center has a policy regarding withdrawals and they are usually restrictive to encourage people to plan carefully before taking a spot. Withdrawals the week before class starts, or after the session starts, make it difficult for fellow students and teachers to plan their own schedules.

Take advantage of our preview classes and make sure you know your schedule before registering for a full session to avoid any need for a refund request. We have no control over community center policy on refunds so any individual questions should be directed to the registrar at the appropriate center.

What is the inclement weather policy?

If classes are canceled due to inclement weather, we will offer make ups for them at the end of the session. For classes held in Arlington County community centers, our classes follow the Arlington County Public Schools cancellation decisions. If Arlington County Public Schools are closed, our classes will be cancelled. If Arlington County Public Schools have a delayed opening, our morning classes will be cancelled. You may call the inclement weather hotline at 703-228-4715 or go online to http://emergency.arlingtonva.us/closings-delays-cancellations/ for the most current closure and weather updates.

In Vienna, our classes follow the Fairfax County Public Schools cancellation decisions somewhat, but not completely. If FCPS are closed, classes are cancelled. If FCPS has a delayed opening, our morning classes will go on as scheduled.
